A sad day for Turtle Gardens
It is with deep sadness that I tell you about the passing of Serene.
Serene is the starving mother of 11 pups recently rescued after days and days
without food or water. She died today, quite suddenly. She showed no
symptoms of distress, she simply lay down and died in the yard. She was
surrounded by her puppies and our love. I know many of the blog readers
were following her story with hope of her finding the good life, she has
found it now with a higher power. It is remarkable how she managed to hold
on to her family through such adversity, she gave it everything she had,
literally. The puppies WILL find the good life that we all wanted for
Serene. Rest in peace, your pups are in my care now and I will see them
through.

How terribly sad! You have truly become a saviour for those dear puppies - I’m sure they’ll go on to live much richer lives due to you and those who cared enough to act before it was too late for all of them.

Oh no no no!!! Those poor babies! Bless Serene’s spirit for hanging on, though, until her brood found a safe haven with you. They are incredible beasts, deserving of all the love and respect in the world.

What a shame. Mother love and instinct is so strong, I’m sure on some level she knew her pups were safe and she could leave them.
As Sharon says, I’m sure the pups will have much better lives because of TG and its supporters.

I’m so sorry, but also so grateful for the work you do and for your huge heart. As Shannon said, you are a true saviour. Rest in peace, dear sweet Serene.

Our poor lass, she fought bravely to lead her pups to safety, and found that with you and Dave, you’re not alone Yvette, we will all see them through. Here is a quote I read once:
Real tears are not ones that fall from the eyes and cover the face,
but those that fall from the heart and cover the soul..

Rest in peace brave girl, you’ve touched our souls.

It was with sadness that I read about Serena (Whizzer). Whizzer was the name that her previous owners had given her. I had tried for over a month to talk the previous owners into letting me take her and her puppies to some place that would, could look after them better then they were When they finally said okay it took a while to find some one. When I called Turtle Gardens even though Yvette was up to her neck in dogs she said “Bring them to me we will find room for them”. I would suppose the effort the poor mother had put out trying to keep her puppies alive was too much for her. A mothers love is something that we can never fully comprehend. Good bye brave Dog.
