Another dog in desperate need for Turtle Gardens

Filed under: Turtle Gardens Diary — yvette @ 8:30 am

I received the call last week about the injured dog - could I help him? He was a stray and had been hanging around all winter. His front leg was bleeding and appeared broken. He was very scared and they couldn’t catch him. I suggested putting food in their shed and trapping him in there. Then we would come and get him. A few days later Ralph drove up with the dog in the back of his truck.  He was a shepherd looking fellow with soft brown eyes pleading for help. His leg was swollen and twisted with the ankle to paw open to the bones and still bleeding. He was infected - I could smell him 10 feet away.  I told Ralph that we would pay for his veterinary bill - that he needed professional help now. Ralph offered to take him to my veterinarian. Upon examination it was determined that the gentle, sad 18 month old boy will lose his front leg. He will be neutered at the same time. He is on antibiotics for a week to reduce the infection and on good premium food to build him up for the sugery scheduled next Friday. Turtle Gardens has promised to pay his medical bills and provide everything he needs to survive the impending operation. Ralph is  fostering him for now as TG is a bit too busy and noisy with all the pups for such a sick dog.  This gentle soul needs sponsors to help him regain his health, a NAME (His name is Silas which in latin means 3, it also means Living in the Woods - sponsored by Cheryl K), and a family to love him and care for him forever.  Can you help us help this poor boy?

  1. A check is on its way. I think a good name for this cutie would be Silas…in Latin it means 3 or third. Which is how many legs he will have but is also is a strong sounding name.

  3. Great hope all goes well for the cutie…
Silas also means” Living in the Woods” so as a stray up there I am sure the meaning is poignant.
