Kitsa and Angel of Turtle Gardens model doggie coats!
Lorna came out to visit and she always brings Kitsa and Rayla to keep up their doggie social skills. While she here we moved in all the dog food and bags of blankets/towel etc that we are given. In one of the bags were many gently used doggie coats. It was a photo shoot opportunity!! we had two reluctant models who did a very good job! Take a look!!
Introducing Kitsa (Lorna’s newest addition) and Angel - looking for a home.
I really think Kitsa is Grey Ghost’s daughter!
Kitsa modeling a leather jacket with sheepskin lining.
Kitsa says "I am not too sure about this" Angel peeks around her.
Angel is recruited! All set for a rainy day!
The cuteness factor! Little dogs look great dressed
And now an update. Brie’s haircut!!
The Wu dog has turned into a Fru Fru Dog. Thanks goodness it will grow back.
She thinks she looks spanking good! We do not laugh in front of her!
Actually I think she is very cute!! She is a silver poodle too just like her brothers Possum and Scrumpers.

Isn’t she just the cutest??
Here is a picture of Grey Ghost to compare to Kitsa!

Hi Yvette,
Sure looks like a family resemblance to me! I have seen Kitsa’s photo on your website before and thought to myself…gee…that dog sure looks like my boy Grey! Same overall look, though appears a bit smaller/more slender that Grey. Grey came to us at 54.5 lbs, I would guess he is now about 60lbs(despite the fact that he must have shed at least 10 pounds of fur this spring!!). What is your friend Lorna’s guess as to Kitsa’s breed? Did you know anything about her mother or other siblings? Did she come from the same area as Grey? Anyhow, interesting to see another dog so similar in looks to our boy!
We get so many comments and questions about Grey when we are out walking - most people want to know what kind of dog he is….standard answer for us is a husky/wolfhound with a bit of this and a bit of that thrown in!! Most people are really taken with him and say what a handsome, interesting, wise looking fellow he is! I think he has become a bit of a mini celebrity in the neighbourhood!
Wanted to ask…I noticed you had a picture of “Chuck” posted last week (looks like he is lying down in your yard). I thought he had been adopted, but perhaps not? I sort of had a soft spot for him and hoped he would find a nice home to spoil him. I remember considering him myself, but I think he was not good with cats! Well, perhaps it is not even the same “Chuck” (the guy I’m thinking of had blue eyes I believe, and you had him earlier this winter). Just curious, and hoping for a “happy ending”!!
Hope all is well, love the puppy photos that you post - they sure are cute! Working on convincing the husband that Grey needs a brother or sister….! Two can’t be more that much more work than one can it?!!
Take care,
Jana

Lorna thinks Kitsa is one of the “nauticals” I disagree
but she does come from the same area as the nauticals - but not one of the others are fuzzies!! She is unique and one of a kind!
Grey Ghost has been to Old Fort, Tachet and ended up in the Burns Lake Pound. All 3 First Nations Communities are connected - most elders live at Old Fort but all the families summer there. There are no schools so families return to Tachet or Lake Babine Nation. I often have people coming here who recognize the dogs and give me their history - so and so had him and how old they think they are etc. Small communities!
Two are sometimes easier than one - they are company for each other. It would have to be a good match - personality wise and a good fit for the whole family!
Chuck has a home with a wheelchair bound gentleman in Vancouver. He will be going next trip!

Interesting to find out a bit of history on Grey’s past life/homes…sounds like he got moved around a bit…I would imagine he lived most of his life outdoors rather than as an indoor family dog (which I suppose is the case with the majority of your dogs). Probably didn’t get to sleep on the sofa either! Well, I do think Grey and Kitsa do look alike…maybe there is a connection somewhere in their respective families. So glad to hear Chuck has found a family!! Will think about adding another at some point, I do think it would be nice for Grey to have a playmate…lots of pros and cons to consider!
We must be the only family not to have a digital camera..I have some photos to scan of Grey so that you can see how he’s doing…will try to do that this weekend. He is sitting here under the desk as I type this..it’s pouring rain and he doesn’t want to be anywhere near outside! Seems to dislike water…hates having a bath, no interest in going in the ocean if we are walking at the beach, goes out of the way to avoid sprinklers and puddles when we are out walking - not a water dog I would say!

Hi Jana,
I think Kitsa is a nautical because when she and her 2 sisters were brought in the guy said their mother was a “knee high white dog”, the sisters both looked sort of lab/spaniel, all were blonde. We figure Ann Bonney, who is now in Seattle was the “knee high white dog” and Kitsa in outline looks to me a lot like Bonny Lassie (forget her new name), another of Ann’s daughters. She does have that terrier fuzz though, I was curious to see how her coat would be when she shed out, she has lost it over her back but is still fuzzy on the chest, lower legs and face. She gets a lot of comments too when we are out and about, I call her a Turtle Garden special.. She is now 47 lbs, seems to be gaining a pound or 2 a month still, figure she’s a year old now, so will probably fill out a bit yet. She is very wiry and strong, reluctant to swim but otherwise likes water, will stand in the creeks or lakes and dig in the mud or eat grass on the bank.
Re another dog, an awful lot depends on the dog! Some dogs like being the only one, some enjoy the company of another dog. I find it is more work for me, the new one takes time and energy until they get some basic training and we get used to each other, meanwhile I have a commitment to the previous dogs not to neglect them because it was my choice to add another. When Shadow and Tassie were younger they played together a lot, with Rayla there has never been a lot of interaction with the others, she would be perfectly happy as a single dog. Kitsa loves other dogs, she is the only female I have seen Rayla play with, but at times from my point of view that is a drawback as she prefers dogs to people! It certainly gets more complicated for travelling or going away if you have more than one, and of course it costs more for feeding and vet care, but the interaction of another personality can be great. So basically it comes down to each individuals choice.

Yvette,
Love the pictures, especially the one with the raincoats! It will be interesting to see Grey’s pictures.
