Castastrophe at Turtle Gardens
Today is the first day of our "main man’s" new 6 week regime! He was told yesterday that the first week should be spent in bed - a complete no weight bearing for his injured leg. Injured leg? What happened you ask? Picture a heavy step. A fragile covering on a floor, a big hole and a sudden drop. Painful, quick and quite damaging. By the time Dave consented to going to the Houston Heath Centre he NEEDED to go. When he came back shortly afterwards - this is what he wore!
A Cast!!
That is a very good qustion! Who will tak eth edogs to the veterinarian for vaccinations, speuters and vet checks? Who will pick up the dogs from the pound? Who will do the grocery shopping? Pick up dog food???
Dave still has a sense of humour - but really it isn’t a laughing matter!
Who will pick up the cremains, doe the cremations and deliver the ashes? Who will take Dave’s place for 6 weeks????? Who will drive the adopted dogs home tot heir new families? We are in deep doo-doo with out Dave. The house is only half done, money is short. and a lot of work still needs to be done. Stan and Kelsey will only be here a short time longer - they have lives too! Who will pick up the slack from Dave? And how ? and if Dave needs surgery next week - a possibility to repair the two breaks if needed ???? This is the worst possible news for TG - How many people will it take to do the work that Dave did?

Sorry to hear about your accident!!!!
If there is anything that can be done from Delta - please let me know - I have next week off, I can’t make it to Topley but I can do anything you need around the lowermainland that might help.

This is so hard…Carol of SAINTS also went through this early this year breaking her ankle. She might have some suggestions of how she got chores done. of course she had volunteers that chipped in but she might have an idea or two for you.

Crap crap crap!!! Poor Dave!! A solution will present itself, though, Yvette. Take heart.

Oh Yvette I’m so sorry to hear this! Paws and fingers are crossed that a great solution will emerge and everything will fall into place.
Saints had a terrific response from volunteers new and old, and myself and another regular lived within a block or two so we were able to orchestrate everything and be there daily until Carol was back at the helm.
I hope your community will rally round and pitch in. Is there a local paper that might run a story about you and mention the need for volunteer help right now?
You will get through this, but if Dave is anything like Carol you will have to SIT on him to make sure he doesn’t do stuff before he is supposed to and end up doing more damage. He does NOT want to have to go the surgery route unnecessarily.
Let me know if there is anything I can do from here - wish I lived closer.

Hi Yvette!
Sorry to hear about Dave! I hope he’s all healed up soon!
I have a driver’s licence and I love dogs and road trips… If it’s on a weekend or planned ahead by at least a week, I may be able to drive for you… I live in smithers though so im too far away to really volunteer. I would if I could though!

Oh I’m so sorry to hear about Dave. I’m sure this is hard on both of you especially at this time with your construction and all. If there is anything I can do in the lower Mainland (North Shore) similar to Melissa’s offer please let me know also and I’ll see what we can do from here. As with the others I would really love to volunteer myself if I lived closer. Take care, my thoughts are with you.
