Dave and I and most of the dogs slept in the Blue House last night. It was very comfortable, as the computer has been set up and the satellite dish too!! All the comforts of home. Almost. Dave is gone to town today to buy propane for the BBQ and a hotplate! Redman did not want to move and dug out under the fence to go back to the empty house. He will be crated this time. My crew discovered that my bed was here so they are ok!! This morning was a rush to the red house for the bathroom - next step install a toilet - or I ain’t moving!! It is too far to use the outhouse near the old kennel building. I guess I am not a good camper! Stress caused more deposits than normal this morning. It will get better as they adapt to their new living quarters. The old floors are almost removed to the subfloor and the old siding is coming off as well. Soon the backhoe will be called in and the foundation begun. Sure is a lot of work though. Thank goodness for grown kids! And for Somebody’s donation. It looks like without it there would have been a disaster - no home for us and no home for Turtle Gardens. We could find another home but TG would have been done/kaput/finished/closed. Thank you Somebody - your gift will save a lot of lives!!

Hi Yvette,
Just thought I’d send you a quick update. Cap survived his kayaking and camping adventures. The camping he took to right off, especially my down sleeping bag! He tried to claim it for his own every night, offered to share it when it became apparent I wasn’t going to let him have it, and begrudgingly settling for the sleeping pad and bed I had for him instead. He is a persistent little guy. We went thru the rigamarole every single time we went into the tent and now that we’re back in Van we’re "discussing" the bed situation on a daily basis. I’m not sure who’s going to give in first, but I’m beggining to suspect it may be me. Too funny. As for the kayaking, well the first day he was a little subdued. The second day had him running around on deck and leaping a 3 foot gap between boats. All was fun and games until he fell in. I fished him out, all wet and bedraggled and a little bit shocked. He learned his lesson, however. He still runs around on deck, but is a little more cautious now. He’s also figured out that the easiest place to be is curled up in your lap, though he’d prefer it to be a little bit drier. As for our visit to Summerland, well he was exposed to the grandma treatment (mmmm, goodies), toddler action (my brother’s two year old) and the joys of power boating. Cap, now re-named Squirt, took to it like a little prince and loved every moment. And now we’re back in Vancouver. Squirt is dealing with the transition pretty well, all things considered. He’s pretty comfortable going for walks most of the time, though rush hour is still a little overwhelming (can’t blame him - it is for me too, and I’ve been here almost 5 years!). And he is definitely one little package of balled up energy! He’s still puppy enough to go hard and then crash hard. We’re working on the obedience stuff. Man, is this little guy smart. Almost too smart - hold a treat in your hand and he already runs thru every thing he knows, trying to read your mind and get that treat as quickly as possible. I’m using toys and play as much as I can with him, hoping that I can get him going on those to keep his brain engaged and use up some of that energy. I can tire him out right now, but give him another six months and I don’t think a full day of going hard will be enough!
Thanks so much for everything. Squirt (Cap) is everything you told me he was! An unbelievably affectionate, highly intelligent, eager to please action packed bundle of fur. Exactly what I was looking for! I’ll send pics when I get them downloaded from the camera.
