Turtle Gardens welcomes our new arrivals

Filed under: Turtle Gardens Diary — yvette @ 5:26 pm

Char arrived this afternoon with a very groggy teenager german shepherd - a beautiful, regal boy. Then she tells me she thought he would fit in better, groggy as he is a very active boy! He was neutered this morning and did not want to go into the extra large crate on the porch. He did anyways. He howled, barked and quite vocally let me know that he was not tired. He did not want to sleep. he wanted to play. He wanted to meet the other guys and gals that live here. He stayed there until the pups were unloaded and introduced. Pictures were taken of the very cute pups. Oh my - one looks like she has chesapeake eyes!! It may be wishful thinking ’cause my heart  dog was a chesapeake but they sure are lovely golden eyes. Do you agree?

She needs a name PLEASE!!

The sable puppy has a dark stripe down her back and a dark face. But she also has an astounding half blue eye!!

This stunning girl needs a name - PLEASE!!

And the last puppy is a smaller guy, my first impression was another karelian bear dog but he is too fluffy, too active and way too friendly. He is a border collie puppy thru and thru!

This handsome fellow needs a name - PLEASE!!

All three pups are thought to be 12 weeks old. They have been vet checked - twice - the first time for check ups and worming, yesterday they were vaccinated and checked again. And wormed again. They traveled well and are asleep under Dave’s chair!! They  have moved in as if this was home!

The three pups are good friends.

Finally as everything calmed down, I let the big guy come out of the crate for his photo shoot. He certainly likes people.
He is about 8 to 10 months old - a teenager. He has been vet checked twice as well and vaccinated, wormed and  neutered. He traveled very well. He has adapted well here as well. He is asleep on the porch. He just didn’t want to miss anything.

He knows sit! And needs a name - PLEASE. Something he can grow into. He is very good with the puppies. They really like him too. Tomorrow is another day and probably another arrival. Please comment with the names - I really enjoy comments. I feel then that someone is reading the blog!!

  1. maybe for a half blue eyed female u could call her ‘Stunning” like u had said in the little discription about her. Maybe for the other female could be a macie or a crystal?

  2. Hi Yvette,

I have just sent you some photos of Grey Ghost…getting sleepy here so my brain is not working at 100% (but then it probably never does anyway!), but thought I’d try to offer a few suggestions for names. I’m sure you have enough on your plate without having to worry about naming your new guests! So here goes…

The blonde pup reminds me of my previous dog’s friend, a lovely, goofy, friendly yellow lab named “Daisy”. Probably not terribly original, but kind of pretty and lady-like. Also thought of “Chelsea” (chesapeake made me think of that), or Cassandra/Cassie.
The sable girl (what a beauty) with the blue eye, makes me think of a northern name like “Freya” or alternately, “Juna/Juno” (a goddess, I believe).
The black/white border collie pup looks like a bundle of enery and a real little imp - perhaps something like “Pip” or “Puck” (mischievious sprite in Midsummer’s Night Dream). We also know a “full of beans” little jack russell called “Oreo”, so given his colouring, this could work too!
Finally, the german shepherd (he is gorgeous too). What about something just kind of simple and classic, like Jerry or Jack or Ben or Henry. I guess there’s lots of these kind of names, but they seem to be not a bad fit for such a noble handsome boy. Lance (short for Lancelot - a noble knight)? Hmmmm…

That’s all I can think of for now Yvette, hope this helps, I am not offended if you don’t like any of them!!

PS - How is the little kitten doing? What is the extent of his injuries - is it something very serious, or something he will recover from and go on to be a healthy kitty? Any prospective adopters? Kittens always tug at my heart (even though I have only always adopted adult cats). How can people be so cruel - bad karma to those that left kittens in a box on the side of a road!

  6. Hi Yvette! Welcome to the new puppers - they are beautiful! I’m running a little short on ideas for names, having just had to come up with names for ten potbelly piglets I am fostering.
However, I am partial to Hershey, Kinsey, Ripley, Courage, Honor, Spencer, Kayla, or Tess - I don’t know if you have used any of those before.
I just wanted to wish you well - all that puppy breath and exhuberance can’t help but bring a smile to your face (and exhaustion to your body!!! Take care of that back!).

  7. Hi Yvette,
Looking forward to getting dear Lilianna home.
I think the teenager looks like a “Jackson” for the others how about Chesa, Sable, & Scout - there’s my 2 cents worth - good luck.

  9. Hi there Yvette

I have a 1 1/2 yr old spayed female purebred Beagle that I am trying to find a home for, I was wondering if maybe you knew of someone who might be looking for a companion who loves the outdoors, walks, and cuddles. If so could you e-mail me.

    Thanks so much
    Deanna
