Turtle Gardens faces, shavings and an adventure!

Filed under: Turtle Gardens Diary — yvette @ 1:03 pm
It is snowing!! Big fluffy snowflakes.

Stan is off on another adventure with the TG Bus and some of the Sheriff dogs. He left at 5 pm yesterday and was coming home on the ferry by 10: 30 am. He called Dave and I to tell us he met an Angel for “his” dogs. He was very happy with this rescue placement. Next he will meet with Chantelle of Boxer Rescue for his two girls – 3Penny (who lived in the cabin with me) and the Shy Girl who had a very tough spay last Wednesday. It is very possible that Shy girl is 3Penny’s mom as well as boy2 and Five’s mother. They are very similar in looks and mannerisms. Once they are safe and set up with Chantelle, we hope Stan will take the time to rest and relax with his daughter today before coming back here tomorrow instead of driving straight through.

Yesterday was also work bee day.  Shavings not sawdust was used to fill the doghouses, the doggie beds inside the runs (they destroy blankets!!), fill the muddy areas in the dog yards and take pictures for petfinder for the fellows ready for homes. Thank you so much, Sara who brought the shavings from Smithers all the way here a 1.5 hour drive one way!! Thank you to Clare, and Jean and Jenelle and Lorna for donating your day off to TG and the dogs! We really appreciate the help and support. All of the dogs can now be touched though the new Momma dog is a tad protective of her baby in the atco but is fine once she is outside especially if she is with Stan. Every dog was groomed/petted and smooched. What a nice bunch of dogs they are!! Only two dogs are now tied up!!

The new emergency fence for the Sheriff dogs!

The truck full of dry shavings!

Dave and Sara shoveling the shavings into buckets. The remained was bagged into 40 big orange plastic bags for future use!

Cedar shaving were put around the last two dogs that are tied up.

And now some of the faces of the Sheriff dogs - 2 weeks later.

Lorna’s foster Aspen -  still thin - she will be wormed today again but mentally healing- her meds have just arrived!

The little grey guy without a name!

Clifford - the big red dog - named by the ladies of Canines North Dog Club.

This is his brother Road as in Road Trip - the two big boys were in a pen together and are together here as well.

The buff guy  - say "cheese" !

The little Momma dog watching Stan! Her name may be Trip as she was livetrapped twice! She got away once while going into a crate so she "tripped" the cage twice. What do you think?

Jean and Sara - puppy fix with little Miracle! Dez and Harley watch closely.

"That feels so good" - one of the 4 black and tan dogs - all siblings.

One of the girls who was in the worst condition - looking good.

  1. Wow, they are really coming along - and so is your place, Yvette! I wish I lived closer so I could meet all the dogs in person (well, and the people too ) and lend a hand. Of course, I’d probably end up bringing a car load home with me, unable to leave them behind  I think the buff guy could easily win my heart….and Clifford…and the grey guy….and Trip (love the name!)……and.. and… and….
