Turtle Garden update and more pictures
The temperature dropped during the night from -1 all the way down to -30!! The dogs started climbed into our beds and under the covers ‘cause the propane heater had been shut off for the mild evening. Small puppies aren’t too bad but big old Dexter climbing up and stretching out along my back woke me up but not for long – he was downright warm so quickly – he could stay there gladly! What a warm fuzzy heating pad! Dave was up early lighting the heater, making coffee, putting on the light – but I didn’t get up until the air had warmed up and the coffee was brewed. Thank you Dave!
Here are a couple of cute pictures of longtimer Jaime who has been here for almost two years – first her demodex turned applicants away and now – she isn’t the prettiest pup! Jaime is a sharpei mix and a dwarf – she has very short legs, small eyes, she is brown though not black. She is very loving and devoted, likes to see what is going on around the yard, likes kids and walks well on leash. She travels well in a vehicle and is a stay at home kind of girl. She is a medium size, short easy clean coat but unusual looking. Somewhere her family is waiting for her.
Jaime trying so hard to be cute!
Kerri is also a demodex pup. She is a rottie/shepherd mix with a gentle nature. She is just so sweet. She is treated with advantage multi and it seems to be clearing up her demodex around her eyes. She likes to play with Isaac and Sage and Margo. She is ready for a family who is willing to work with her demodex – it is cureable and non contagious.
Kerri and Margo!Hello Yvette,
I figured it was time to send you an update
Shadow is doing fantastic! He has come so far. He is the best with other dogs, perfect doggy decorum!! He has learned so many new things and gained so much confidence it’s like he is a different dog then the one we picked-up. Shadow has bonded to me so much that he rarely leaves my side and will go anywhere and come to me in pretty much every situation I call him in…. in fact he has bonded to me so well, and I to him that I am doing the unthinkable….keeping him! I know I could not let this fantastic dog go. This is my shameful case of foster failure…but I love bragging about him! Every where I take him everyone asks questions and comments on how sleek and graceful looking he is (pretty boy). I have attached some pictures. The first one is after his first groomers appointment a few weeks after we took him in, and the other one is of him hanging out with the brat pack when we went skating on the lake a few weeks ago.
For the record this is my first foster failure, its has never been easy seeing a dog go but when it came to Shadow I just knew I could not bear… it was something different with him… I have found my 2nd heart dog.

Good looking Shadow.
Does he ever look like Poncho! Poncho is Stanley’s brother!

Brrr….that’s cold!
I just had a look at Jaime’s petfinder site - I see what you mean about “unusual looking” - looks like a dog that has been put together by a committee!!!! But a sweetheart - wish I had room for one more (or two or three), but I’m already tripping over animals here.

Hi Yvette, Dave and Stan
Sage is awesome and is adjusting very well. We love her to bits. After Stan called in the morning to tell me he was coming with her later in the day, it was the longest hours of my life. Anyway, 8 hours later, she’s here and yes, what a follower she is. And a big dog in a tiny body. We’ve had many calls from friends and family, excited for our new arrival. She had a nice meal and a good sleep that night. On the other hand I didn’t (too excited).
In the morning we went to Trout Lake. At first she was a bit nervous of her surroundings (joggers, big dogs running up to her). Halfway around the lake she warmed up, less nervous and very excited to meet other dogs. She seems to really like kids too.
I forgot what it’s like to have a puppy since it was Jan ‘91 when Woody was 3 months old, and boy, you get alot of attention. Everybody loves Sage. Getting stopped every minute means it takes alot longer to do anything. Later in the afternoon we went shopping for more puppy things. In one dog friendly store (there are many on the Drive), we were swarmed by every customer in the store… at least 12 ladies oohing and awwing. She loves the attention (so do I). We are a perfect match. After a long nap, her new friends came for a visit… Ralph the snoodle, Georgia the pug and Leroy the boxer. I’ve been trying to housebreak her. Any suggestions? She goes on newspaper inside , but holds it in when we are out and about, 3hrs today, I guess its nicer (no snow) inside . Patience and persistence is the key i here. Anyway I am so happy we found each other. Thankyou sooo much (i love the brat) I will hopfuully get a camera very soon and keep in touch you guys are the best. thanks again Lynn Derek and of course SAGE!
