Just another day in Northern rescue

Filed under: Turtle Gardens Diary — yvette @ 5:01 pm

Stan cut some alder to bank the fires in all 3 stoves across the road where the guest cabins will be (utilizing all the wood - no waste) - just 20 minutes outside looks like this:

This is at a balmy -33

Ice catchers!

  1. It was -3 this morning when I went out and all I thought was how cold it was and I wanted back in the house…ha ha..it incomphensible to me to know what -40 would be like. I am such a wimp with cold.

  2. Stan is The Man!! I spent my early childhood in the north and I still remember that kind of cold. I am truly grateful to be a west coast weather-wussie!!!

  3. Once the temperature drops below -25 or 30, there’s no earthly reason to quantify it. There’s just col, freezing, and please God, just take me, right now!
Poor Stan. No Balaclava, no scarf. I saw naked, about to be frostbitten redneck!
How is your daughter’s ankle? Crutches at -35 can’t be fun, either.

  4. Your title “Just another day in Northern rescue” looks more like Stan needs rescuing - hang in there Stan!! Great photo! Can’t imagine the cold up there…..we are just now suffering through some snow down here and we’re almost at a stand still. Even Mya the northern import seems to be adopting Maxine’s preference for the warmth of her cushy bed….Love your photos Yvette, take care, Jude
