Stress Finally Takes it’s Toll

February 9th, 2008

Mom is Sick oh no now what?  This was the question of the day this morning when I arrived at the blue house. Carrie-Anne was sitting by mom’s bed with a puzzled look "Who is going to get my special breakfast that always starts with the can food appetizer" Mom gives pills and ivemec morning and night with a meal as to not make her sick.  The three big wanna-be sled dogs looking embarrassed and giving mom the I don’t know who did it but are you going to clean it up. They are very clean and hate and nightly deposits from the others.  Margo and her play mate Sally-Sue  were jumping up and playing on the bed and terrorizing mom’s dogs they were all laying there with very worried looks on there faces, mom always get out of bed first time in probably 5 years she might get sick and not write a blog but she is always up and making sure things are ok for our furry friends, but not today. It has been a very hard year for her with all the stress with all the fighting and negative talk and she takes it very personal when she has spent her whole life for the animals she owns nothing no fancy things here no nice car no nice house no jewels not even any really nice cloths.  All that’s here is boxes of mom’s treasures thousands and thousands of cards, pictures and letters of the thousands of dogs and people lives she has brought together and enriched.  She is judged in the world where what we own and what we possess the nicer and fancier and the bigger are the winners. People look at her house and the way she dress and her missing teeth.and pass judgement and never really see her.  How she loves the ones no one else loves and has given her entire life every ounce of energy and strength to them. So when people accuser her of hurting animals, and neglecting then it affects her in a place that few of us will ever understand or see. The battle has gone on for so long this time and has been so hurtful to that spark deep in her being has slowly started flicker and dim. The constant fear of the unknown and what are they doing behind our backs????  Has slowly started to turn mom’s eternal optimism to "I hope we will be ok" making the future for the many yet to come to her dim as well.

They say you never know what is like for another till you walk a mile in there shoes. Was very wise when they said it because there are three of us trying to fill moms shoe’s today and forget it we haven’t even come close and I don’t think we could. yes Carrie-Ann got her meds and her ivamec but was still left with that look of that’s not how my mom does it you know. and there our so many little things that happen here day to day that the three of us could never do or even know that it needs to be done  so hopefully we can talk her into going to the doctor  tomorrow and getting better soon because there are very many of us depending on her strength to keep going. and we can fake it for a few days but not near as well she can.

So sorry to hear  , I hope Yvette is better soon. With all the hard work, flooding, cold weather and painful issues she’s overcome this year it’s no surprise that with the ending of the renos her body is finally demanding that she stop. Please, take care of her and yourselves as best you can. We’re thinking of you.

Please take care of yourself Yvette and rest. Your body needs to recoup. Your family and friends will manage for a few days while you get better. I am sorry to hear you are ill…obviously this upsets the balance of nature at Turtle Gardens.

PS May your light continue to burn even thought it is dim right now. Deep inside it won’t flicker and go out it will gather fuel again when rested and ready.

It’s times like this that I wish with all my heart that I lived closer to TG so that I could pitch in to help until Yvette is back on her feet. And I know, too, that this sounds like just, words, but I know I’m not the only person who has a profound respect for Yvette’s passion, dedication and abiding strength.

Hang in there, guys, our thoughts are with you. Be well.

Stress does indeed do strange things to our bodies. Rest and take care of yourself Yvette, let your family pamper you for a time, things may not get done “just so”, but what is absolutely essential will get taken care of by your more than capable “helpers”!!:smile

May your inner light continue to shine – you have many supporters who appreciate what you and your family do, best to give as little thought as possible to the naysayers, stay focused on the positives (I know, easier said than done).

Take care of each other, stay warm (I think the really coldspell has passed now – it is mild and rainy down here in Vancouver!)

Yvette, I’m so sorry to hear you’re not feeling well. Get some well deserved rest,
your family has everything under control. You are a better person than any
of those naysayers, you know in your heart what is the truth and ‘what is’ – not what
they ‘think it is’. Stan – great write-up, straight from the heart. Take care.

Prayers and positives thoughts for all of your at Turtle Gardens – human and canine. Yvette, rest well, worry less, focus on those wonderful furry faces around you (ha ha – I mean the dogs, not Stan and Dave! – well them too!) and know that we are all wishing you well.
So many of us live so far away from you – but if there is anything we can do from here, let us know.
    (((hugs)))) Jean

Yvette, be strong. You are respected and honored. Forget the negative people who have nothing better to do than gossip. There are many people on Vancouver Island who respect and cherish what you do for the animals. Get well….
