Snow day at Turtle Gardens

Filed under: Turtle Gardens Diary — yvette @ 3:20 pm

Holy Cow did it ever snow last night! At least a foot of wet fresh, clean snow. The pups were racing around playing tag. But all my firewood is covered in deep snowball snow.
The snow collected on the fence! The mounds were almost clear yesterday!

How clean and pristine it looked this morning!

Then it was sleep time in the dog room!

Sleep time just like kindergarten!

More sleepy pups

Isaac playing with the favorite toy!

Poncho and Chunky Munky settling down for a nap.

Yesterday was quite exciting for my guys. When they went to GSA Auto Terry had CHEX TV on hand to document the handing over of the keys to the new TG Bus! It will be on Channel 6 tonight. Sally Sue and Margo’s adoptive families were there too. And the star was the old girl Mrs. Johnny.  Stan did a fabulous job I am told! And this is after driving all night!

Then they went to the Nanaimo ferry landing to meet with Bev’s husband and hand over Buck and Stacey.  Stan then drove to the line up,  bought the tickets for the two vans and took Mrs. Johnny for a walk. She was very wobbly and this concerned Stan so he took her back to the van, gave her a drink and set her up on the seat beside  him for the ferry ride to Surrey. Half way across Mrs. Johnny had a seizure and slipped into a coma. She died shortly after on the ocean.  There was little Stan could do but hold her. Her earth journey was over. I am so sorry Momma Dog - you deserved a home of your own with pizza night , and all the hugs you could handle. Run free - you were loved.

  1. RIP Mrs. Johnny…at least you were not alone and it sounds like it was quick and peaceful. I am truly sorry.

  2. I just saw Stan on the news now 5:15 and came to write, he did do a fabulous job! you can see how kind he is as he rubbed ,I think it was Mrs. Johnny and gave her cuddles, I know she felt so loved.I’m glad it was so quick (and so sad at the same time)and Stan was right there; but blimey, hard on the men.And now to smile, they started right off with the little black beauty queen Margo, she’s got a personality that one, Sally Sue was there and little Stacy too looked great. The new van looked good, I just wish the whole clip was longer. Such positive publicity I hope it will help to spread the word for Turtle Gardens, yeah! Lynda

  3. I just caught it to and wished it was longer. Was that Mrs. Johnny the older black dog with white on her face. if it was she was getting loved and got to be on TV famous for a moment. Saw Buck also…the van looks awesome. You have done so well to have so many step up to the plate taking the dogs and also getting two vans donated. That is so great…when things look bad you always know something good is right around the corner. Tell Stan he did very good…

  4. Yes, that was Mrs. Johnny - beautiful. soft and so loved. I saw it as well. Lively little Margo - how I miss her! Sweet Sally Sue, Dave walking Buck and Stacey - they were all there and the awesome graphics on the van!! So cool! Thank you everyone.

  5. I am so sorry about Mrs. Johnny. All the years of hardship and cruelty that she
had to endure nailed up to her doghouse really took a toll on her body and spirit.
At least for the past several months, she was safe and warm at TG, and had
a full belly every night. She knew she was loved. Oh poor Stan!
Yvette, can you post a picture of Mrs Johnny B?

I missed the news, I hope they’ll run it again at 11.

  6. Oh, I’m so sorry for having missed the news item on TV tonight!! And a new TG Bus! - GSA Auto and Terry are the special angels Yvette!! It sounds as if it was a great clip and Mrs Johnny….I didn’t even know her and still my heart is touched…lucky for her Stan was with her at the end and for her to have finally felt love and security in her final days at TG. We hear about situations like Mrs. Johnny from you now and again when something squeezes our heart and soul, but what you must experience on an on going basis is unimaginable…thank you and keep up the good work! I’m sure there are more special angels hovering…..

  7. Oh Yvette, I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Johnny. Hugs to Stan for putting her on the seat beside him and being with her as she passed.
I missed the TV coverage, but so glad to hear it went well and all the rest of the dogs are safely at their new homes.

  8. Tears are flowing in tribute to Mrs Johnny AND Stan. Even though she was going to a new special place, I think she knew it was time to go, in the arms of the one who had so loved her and taught her about the angels on this Earth.
