This is it - travel day for TG and new arrivals!
Today is “T” day - my greyhound leaves at 5.35 pm! Yes I am taking the bus - several reasons - It is way cheaper - less than half the air fare!! (more for the dogs spay/neuters) and less get there travel time. The airport is almost 2 hours away and we need to be there 2 hours ahead so Dave would be away a lost 6 hours!! The bus picks me up at the corner - I could walk! We are less than a minute from the highway. Besides both trips are at night so I will sleep or read. No problemo!
Annie arrived - a failed adoption after almost 5 years! She was 7 months old when she left here. She has fears of thunder storms and she bolts. She has been picked up twice by animal control and they can no longer afford the fine. So Annie returns. She is a calm girl with people but is territorial - she is part maramma . Turtle Gardens welcomes Annie:

Then we received a call from Char - the Burns Lake Pound. She has 5 dogs in the pound. They had their vet visit scheduled - Thank you Burns Lake Vet Clinic!! Dave picked them all up and what a nice bunch of dogs!!Turtle Gardens welcomes them all - no names - yet!!
This is the littlest pound pup. She is a female, 6 to 8 months old, weighs 13 pounds and is super friendly - she is already following us and sleeping under out chairs in the kitchen. What a sweetie!

Next is Nonie2!! She looks just like Nonie and acts like Nonie and is the same age as the one above and Nonie!! They must be part of Nonie’s family!!

Then a beautiful, striking aussie mix - a 4 month old blue eyed, female who could very well be Abby Rose’s sister - except aussie and border collie aren’t grey - are they? She is super bright, very very active and what a friendly, good natured pup! She plays plays and loves to play.

And then the other 4 month old pup - a lab mix, male - oh so gentle. He has already been adopted! Jerry and Lindsay lost their Rusty on the 11th - he was adopted from TG 11 years ago when he was just over a year old. They were devastated and came here to look for another companion - Lucy caught their eye but she has a home in Squamish. I told them that I would call as soon as a lab pup came in. Well this little guy looked like he could fit the bill so I called when he arrived. 5 minutes later - it was a done deal. Tears and hugs and he was part of a his new family.

And las but not least - a adult, akita/husky mix, another male, with a blue eye - what a nice boy he is. He fit in so easily with the group and slept under the table all night long. Someone will have a treasure with this boy!

Well it is off to finish packing and the start of my big adventure. I am so looking forward to seeing my furry friends again and meeting their families and rescue friends too. See you soon!!

What a beautiful bunch of dogs, Nonie2 and Nonie1 could pass off as twins.
Get lots of rest on the bus Yvette cause you’re in for a busy weekend!
FYI, the Province Newspaper listed the “Take a Hike” reunion under “community events”.

Oh my gosh- the new Nonies are SO much like my Caili Nonie. I bet they are her sibs- right age, too.
Looking forward so much to Sat., and meeting you Yvette, and thanking you personally for my darling girl.

Barb - don’t you think Caili would like a sister??

poor Annie looks so sad…like she knows that she failed something. But she didn’t it isn’t her fault and I am so sad for her. She needs a home down at the coast or on the Island. We get the occasional thunder storm but nothing to worry about majorly so she could settle much easier. what a heartbreak for her..sigh.
The rest of the dogs look super. Good luck Yvette and have a great time. The weather has sucked down here but it is supposed to turn nice on Saturday…Yeah!!

Let’s hope soon Annie gets her own family to do some island loving with! she is so pretty even if she won’t look at the camera! I’m sure hoping this sunshine will continue tomorrow and am looking so forward to meeting everyone and their dogs! Lynda

Cynda- don’t tempt me!! I would love to adopt that little sister for Caili, but realistically, I know I shouldn’t! Wouldn’t they be a pair, though.

Cheryl, I thought the same thing about Annie!!

Barb - maybe you can find a neighbour who will fall in love with Nonie2…..

Poor Annie,
I wonder if she was an outside dog? I hope not…
Or did she also bolt in the house?
I find most dogs if outside do not like the Thunderstorms, actually I don’t like them either.
Oh well, now she has hope of being adopted out to people that can help her with her fears.
Have fun in Vancouver

Borders and Aussies come in merles - she would be considered a blue merle - the eyes are also usually blue! she is a cutie - poor annie - indi hates thunder too, she tries to hide under the bed. Comment re the fan issue for the other dogs - Mairin was freaked out by the big ceil fan? we don’t have one in our home it was up at the cabin we rented - she kept looking up at it even when it was off ? the others could care less - strange!

Just wondering if you could use some names for the new arrivals –you might have found them already. How about Nellie and Nina for Nonie’s sibs, Kira-May for Abbey’s Rose’s potential sib, and maybe Inuk (short for Inukshook –big northern rock formation) for the shiba inu/husky mix.
