Yesterday was a speuter day in Houston for a change. It is still our veterinarians but they travel twice a week to Houston for their clinic there. There are just too many animals vying for appointments in Burns Lake
Bad for us but great for the clinic. Houston is a tad less busy so we have made appointment in Houston to get caught up. We are behind too because of my working holiday fundraising! So yesterday Wimpy and Jasmine went in bright and early.

Then in the afternoon – Dave picked up Kelsey and the puppies – Prudence, Temperance, Boundary and Serene for their second vaccinations and vet checks. They all average about 10 pounds – they have gained 4 pounds in almost a month. Good growing! Dr. Caroline said that they were well rounded, healthy, outgoing friendly puppies! How cool is that! Serene went to her new home with Cassie last night – Prudence has a home in Abbotsford. The other two may be going to foster in Langley – we will see. Bailey was vet checked after my guys – she has ringworm! Her foster home has cattle and she picked up a few spots – she is undergoing treatment with her foster and will be available soon for adoption and her second vaccination. Puppies are a lot of work!
Last night Linda called – she was on her way here with 3 stinky shepherd looking puppies from the Kitsegeluka Dump! Now why would anyone throw away live sentient being in the dump like so much garbage! They are all female, skinny and with bloated worm filled bellies. They have an appointment for a check up, deworming and their vaccinations this afternoon – thank you Burns Lake veterinary Clinic for making a spot for them. Linda also had an 8 month old red malamute teenager pup with her. Dave just couldn’t take him when I was away – he did take in Jasmine and Mileva! Ben looks like he may have a lot of malamute if not all malamute. He is big, beautiful, adores kids and is super friendly. He needs a neuter and vaccinations of course and a perfect matched home.

This morning is another speuter day! This time in Burns Lake. Free Willie and Georgie have left for their big adventure! I can pick up Free Willie now, he jumps up on me and wiggles with joy when I pet him. He is almost ready for a gentle patient home. Georgie has finally weaned her puppies – we had to place some to give her a break! She really really is a good mom with her pups now 10 weeks old and with her foster pups now 11 weeks old! She needs a home preferably with children – she loves them.
Georgie with Prudence and Serene.

i really wish i could adopt a dog! i saw Bens pic and really like him! i think he looks like 3/4 mal and 1/2 shepherd.i used to have a dog that looks identical to him! although mine was all white. i hope Ben finds a home where he will be loved and cherished…ok i wish that for ALL the dogs in shelters everywhere in the world. i get to work at a doggy daycare in Abbotsford and some of our dogs come from shelters. take care and hope the coffee keeps you warm in these Fall and winter months…i love coffee too!!!

Ok, now I’ve had enough, what kind of sick #%*&$! throws away puppies in a dumpster? These people have no business owning an animal. How cowardly and spineless can you get? What goes around comes around. Where is the pup’s mother? I hope they have the decency to give her up cause clearly they are not able to look after a dog. I’m sure the mom is being treated like garbage as well, if anything, I hope she will be spayed. These 3 beautiful little girls are indeed very lucky to end up at Turtle Gardens,
thank you to Linda and thank doG for TG. (Sue – where are you?)

I can understand the vet issues. It took me 6 weeks to get an apt for a kennel cough vacine at our vet. He is currently the only full time vet in town, and his office has told me if I get any more animals I will have to take them elsewhere unless we get another vet in town SOON!!! With all that I know lots of people who are going into Smithers, Burns Lake, and Rupert because we just can’t be seen in a timely fashion. It is no fault of the vet, he is working as hard as he can but in a town that used to have 3 vets and is now down to him alone, he just can’t keep up.

Hello Bev,
Is he a red mal? And yes he is here in my common room and yes we can use all the help we can for his vetting! He needs to learn manners – gently of course, he panicked when I left him inside and knocked down the TV, my geraniums and the converter as he tried to go out the window. But he didn’t break more than a few blossoms and a stem!He is funny, friendly and he LOVES attention. I am told he lives for kids so a courtesy post and help with his placement (so he can find HIS perfect match) for this youngster would really really help. Thank you Bev.

gosh I was so upset to read about those wee shepherd pups and of course next I’m thinking “Where is the Mother?” next, thankyou so so much for taking them in and whomever took them to Linda. I Then I see that photo of the red Ben and his friend who must be female (!)talking into his ear and looking so intently “Tell me the latest dear, and are you o.k.?!” gave me a chuckle, it is such a great photo. Who is that white with grey dog? Lynda

Ben is talking to Squire – my most temperamentally challenged dog here! He is 11 years old so not a senior yet just middle aged. Ben is a teenager and is getting advice from an old hand – Squire. Squire was neutered early and was raised with females – so he is compassionate with the new dogs.

I agree with you Cynda.
I would love to catch someone dumping any animals at the dump.
I hope I have my Bear Spray in my truck as those people are like dangerous animals and they deserve to get sprayed.
Poor puppies!!
Thank God for Turtle Animals

Yes they call that color red in mals. Reds can vary from deep rich nearly brown-red to a light peach color. I love the red colored Mals they are special
I think Cynda NEEDS another Mal no?
I’ll cover his neuter just send me a copy of the invoice and I’ll send ya back a cheque. When you get some time (cough ya what’s that?) email me a few pics of the little turd and a few words. I’ll have our web person post him up for you.
