THe TG Bus Updates!!!!

November 30th, 2009

The first to arrive in their new home and the first to update – Hawkeye and Trapper!

What beautiful dogs they are. And so well behaved! They are just
perfect for us. Thank you so much Yvette for allowing us to add them
to our family. I’m sending a link to a few pictures which show how
content they are already. They seem to prefer the floor to the bed so
far but I’m sure that will change eventually.

I made an appt. with our vet for Friday to give them the once over and
remove their stitches. I’ll keep you up-to-date on their progress.

Thanks again,
Rita

I will post as the rest of the adopted dog updates come in!!

The second was Kyosha by telephone! She is a sweet love! And much smaller than her pictures and much prettier. Kyosha will blossom with her besotted mom!!

Next was Baird now Gator. He has had a busy day – a bath, breakfast at Starbucks, a vet visit, a drive to the pound for his license and lots of play with his sister Ali! Tomorrow is “Spa day”! can you say “yuppie puppie”!!

And now – Logan’s update:
Hello Yvette and Stan,

Logan has had quite the day: a long road trip, lots of walks, vet check, a bath and all the while giving kisses! He is SO well behaved and very sweet! We are ecstatic to have him as part of our family; He fits right in. Even though the cats are still warming up to Logan, he’s super with the them. Thank you for such a wonderful dog!

the TG Bus is on its way!!

November 29th, 2009

The TG Bus was delayed with Stan’s flu and he was so very sick. :( Thanks to virus attack echinillin and vitamin C and zinc (thank you Cynda and Tom – I swear by the C and Zinc) he was feeling well enough this afternoon to attempt the TG Bus Run. The paperwork was all done, suture lines were checked for stitches, collars and leashes found (we are quite short on leashes!!!)and the 3 pups in harnesses – we started loading up!

First was Macloud – he is going to North Vancouver to meet his family.
GEDC7189

Then Mya who will be running the beaches of Qualicum Beach – 5 acres of oceanfront with bed and breakfast guests to meet and greet – what a fabulous life for sweet Mya!
GEDC6904

Logan will be a yuppie puppie in Kitsilano! Anne-Marie and Trevor have been very anxiously waiting for him!
Logan very cute

Baird his look-a-like will be living in Vancouver as well! His family is donating TG Buttons and fridge magnets – How cool is that!!
GEDC7200

Fluffy little Kyosha will be summering in Invermere and wintering in North Vancouver. Her mom has always has fluffy little eskies!! She will be a very spoilt princess!!
GEDC7167

Trapper and Hawkeye also have two homes – weekdays in Chilliwack – weekends and summers in 70 Mile House!! The boys will have a ranch and a family as well as kids to play with and sleep with.
dogs from wl3

Teja the smart one of the mellow yellow trio will live in Abbotsford! She will have kids to play with and a doting mom. She is a sweet pup and cuddly too – a well grounded youngster.
Teja lying down

Tina is going to Bev of Second Chances – she will find her special family and learn valuable yuppie puppie skills!
GEDC7151

Patches the border collie is going to Bullie Buddies – a friend of Sam is fostering to adopt sweet Patches.
border collie

LB who has applications who are waiting to meet him will be going to Lisa – our foster home in Richmond where he will learn lifeskills/doggie day care/leash skills and be a valuable member of canine society. He is such a nice little dog too.
Little Bear LB

Last but not least – the two pups who are our pediatric spay neuter firsts and our cuteness factor at the Man and dog Fashion Show on the 2nd!! Frankie Blue Eyes Too and 194 his sister. Stan wanted personality plus as well as striking. So…. 194 is the personality – Frankie is the striking! Now why is she a number? Because she doesn’t have a name!! No one gave me one and I couldn’t think of one so she is #194 this year!! And for now – that is her name. maybe her foster home will have a name to suit her or maybe her new family – once she is on petfinder!!!

It certainly is quiet. The dogs always are quiet on TG Bus day. Their buddies are gone and they mourn the losses. They are sad to see them go but their turn is coming. They soon find new best buddies to romp with.

Today we has a visit from Matt and Andrea of Bright Eyes Rescue in Terrace. They have a boxer/bullmastiff mix that spent his entire 3 years in an abusive home on the end of a heavy chain. he lacks essential dog skills and did not fit into their home – he needed a safe haven with rehabilitation. That’s Turtle Gardens! We welcome – Lewis!

And last today – we have a return. Turtle Gardens always takes back our dogs no problem. Cawston’s family’s rental home was sold and the only place they could find only allowed one outside dog. The older fellow went and Cawston came back to Turtle Gardens. – Welcome big fellow! Cawston is Tao’s brother – a shepherd/sharpei with akita maybe? He is just barely 1 year old. He is good with kids, cats and other dogs. He has moved in as if TG was always his home.

Oh my doG! more puppies! And their mom at Turtle Gardens Rescue!

November 27th, 2009

Helene was waiting for Dave when he arrived at the Burns Lake Veterinary Clinic with the bigger puppies who were getting their 2nd vet check/vaccinations. She was worried cuz 1. it was going to be -15 that night and 2. a fox was seen in the area carrying something small and black. She hurried to the house with food for the mom who did not come out to eat. She shone her led flashlight underneath and saw mom sleeping with two pups on her back. Relief!!! :) She then decided that this was it – she was getting them out now. So she hired a little boy who lived with 5 little dogs to help her. Mom came out to eat finally. She was hustled into a crate. The pups soon came out to smell the food. One was grabbed and crated. Then the more cautious one ventured close to her foot. The little boy dove and grabbed the squealing pup. He held onto her and she was crated. Success! Helene said it was the best $10 she had ever spent. She then drove them to our vets where they were checked and vaccinated. Mom has tapeworm but that is no problem now that a large supply of drontal plus has been donated to TG. Thank you Cambie Animal Hospital, Cynda, Jude and Dalia. She is the homeliest little black monkey face terrier that she is cute! She weighs about 12 or so pounds – Helene fed her very well she is a chunky monkey!! Her pups are huge compared to her. My camera has decided to kick the bucket so no pictures. Suffice to say that she is unique! And her name is Buttercup.

LB is doing very well. He is recovering well – he is a teenager after all – youngsters heal well. At 30 pounds he is a medium boy – the perfect size for city walking! He has two applications and he hasn’t arrived at his foster yet! We are so very fortunate to have Lisa as our foster home extraordinaire – thank you.

Running Bear is not doing as well – he is an older fellow so recovery is slower. He was very thin still and quite stressed with the female in season – Lily-B decided NOW was a good time to come into heat. She is not a happy camper – she destroyed her crate, but it was in the closed bathroom for extra safety – it was needed! She is safe. The boys are forgetting that she is in there. Running Bear will feel a whole lot better in a few days as his hormones slowly dissipate. He will be a much happier boy – more conducive to accepting humans in his life instead of looking for love. He weighs 35 pounds but should be closer to 45 pounds when in top condition. He needs to learn to trust – he spent his life on a chain then when he did get loose was shot! He will heal and become the well grounded dog I envision.

And now pictures of dogs at play!

Another Neuter day at Turtle Gardens Rescue and renovations!

November 26th, 2009

The sun sure wasn’t up this morning when I woke Dave up with his first cup of good coffee. He went out and started the van – it was only -5 this morning. While he was enjoying his coffee I leashed up LB (Little Bear), Running Bear and Kyosha for the trip into Burns Lake. As we were told Kyosha was already spayed (but you can trust it if no documentation come with them) so she was checked over well and vaccinated. She was certainly happy to go for a ride!

Kyosha

LB was not too happy to go but he was quickly loaded up – he is quite small after all.

And last Running Bear went into the van reluctantly but he is smaller too.

It would not be a neuter day without an arrival and today is no exception! Miley is just over 8 months old. She has already had 3 homes in her short life. This one has a small baby. Miley is not good with the baby. She actually jumped on the baby when she was on the couch. Was she trying to play? She loves to chase older kids that visit and chases a ball as well. but they were not taking any chances so Miley needed a safe place t o land. Turtle Gardens welcomes Miley

And while we were working the dogs were having fun outside

Neuter Day at Turtle Gardens Rescue!

November 25th, 2009

Back on track now that Dave has recovered from the flu. It has been a very hard go for Dave – he was wiped out and down for almost two weeks! I am being very quiet and thankful cuz i didn’t get it. Maybe it is cuz I had a flu shot in March this year or maybe I am just plain lucky. Whatever – touch wood and pray I stay healthy! Or maybe it was all the vitamins Cynda and Tom sent me – it certainly helped! I feel better than I have for a very long time!

The two boys from Williams Lake were neutered. Hawkeye and Trapper (together) have a home in Chilliwack and 70 Mile House!! Trapper is 72 pounds while Hawkeye is smaller at 59 pounds. They are in very good shape with excellent dispositions. We knew that!! they are ready to go home this weekend.
hawkeyeTrapper Logan, etc

Stan arrived in time for supper! And started working on his interview with C-Fox this morning! He was ready for the half hour show at 11.30 – with Marie and Dale who are hosting the Man and his Dog Fashion Show!! How cool is that!

Neuter Day is usually Pound Pick up Day and so it was not only a pound pup but two more of the puppies born under a house in Burns Lake. Helene has been feeding the momma dog for 4 weeks. The pups are starting to come out so she was worried they would be scooped up – they are very cute! Here’s hoping the last two come out before tomorrow’s vet appointments!!

The new fellow from the pound

The other pup that came in a week ago! That makes 3 of the 5 we think are there. Mom will be coming in as well – no more pups for her!
GEDC7165

The pups – the yellow and curly black one are the newbies. Momma dog has adopted these guys too!

The winterizing project is in full gear! The wood stove in. The chimney is up and the wood is burning!1 The dogs are already standing around the woodstove soaking up the heat! The one kuranda bed behind the stove is occupied! How cool is that! The wiring is hooked and lo and behold – there is light! The doggie door will be soon be put in so the floor can dry in preparation for the new tongue and groove plywood and tiles. Oh I forgot the ceiling and roof insulation is going in as we speak. Stan has arrived!

Sir Rex our beautiful DEAF guy is coming in!! What a sweetheart he is turning out to be. He loves attention. He is very well behaved too. He will be an awesome companion for someone willing to teach him hand signals and how to thrive in hearing world.

Sir Rex

Last but not least TG Smile of the Day- puppy piles with Momma dog in front!
