I thought I’d impress ‘em
Oh my gosh Charlie!! You can sit up pretty!! Nothing wrong with your back. You are not just a pretty face – smart too. Love from Mama Yvette and all our furry friends at homebase.
Sincerely, Yvette
PS Thank you so much for a much needed smile
Dear Mumma Yvette & Daddy Dave,
I wanted to write you a special note to let you know how well I’m doing in my foster home. Life is pretty rough (ha ha) for me, I go to work with my foster mum each morning and nap at home in the afternoon. We play in the dog park everyday and I eat lots of yummy treats from all the fantastic people my foster mumma knows. Life is pretty sweet, but then I think I deserve it! I’m strong as strong can be now.
This weekend foster mumma whispered to me that we were going on a little adventure, to a place called Bowen Island! An Island?! Did I hear right, doesn’t that mean we have to cross the water.. how are we going to do that? So needless to say I was a little curious. (I’ve attached pictures of my adventure to show you!)

Checking out the bay
So we packed up and jumped in the car and off we went to what foster mumma called a ‘ferry boat’ .. I think she might be making this up! Sure enough after a short trip we where at this funny place where all the cars were stopped in a line. I couldn’t figure it out, so I went to investigate. Seems they call this place a ‘ferry terminal’.

The ferry ride

The Car Ride
The next thing I knew we were back in the car and driving onto the thing mum called a ‘ferry’. I don’t think I was all to sure about it at the time but mum said it would be ok and that we should hop out and walk around, so I put my brave face and paws and went out to investigate.
Surprisingly I thought it was pretty cool,
I even met some pretty friendly kids that gave me lots of love.
Think I might like this thing called a ferry boat!
It was starting to get dark so I was a little worried I wouldn’t be able to see where we were heading but mum assured me I’d be ok. Off we drove and I think we may have crossed to island because it took so long I fell asleep.
I awoke to the sound of another dog barking, hopping out of the car I met my foster grandparents pup, Duffy. I have to say for being 15yrs old, he was pretty cool. He took me inside and showed me the ropes, even introduced me to a funny furry new friend that he called a cat. She seemed pretty cool, I think I might like to meet more of her ‘type’. Everyone was so friendly and kept giving me lots of cookies and talking in silly voices to me (I might kinda like it though, shhh don’t tell).

Sharing some treats with my new kitty friend

It’s been busy, nap time!
The next morning I decided to put my brave and curious face on and roam the great outdoors with my new friend Duffy. We wagged our tales all the way down to the lake had a sniff and I then helped him remark all of his grass from the other dogs that roam the neighbourhood. I think he is set for a while!

Patio time with my older foster brother
Mum then decided that I’ve dragged to much dirt into the car, so it was time to give it a clean.
I thought it might be a good thing to supervise and have a nap in the sunshine.
I was right…
Well needless to say the rest of the weekend I was able to find a few new people to trick into some cuddle time with me, check out a couple new places to walk and before I knew it it was time to go home.
So Mumma Yvette and daddy Dave, I’m pretty pooped after my big weekend but still wanted to share with you and the other fur kids at the homestead.
Hugs, licks and tail wags.
Charlie
