Singing in the Rain – Happy Canada Day Everyone!!

singing in the rain

Trunk always stands with her front paws on either Molson or Toosha George’s back to sing! I often wonder what starts the chorus of song but once begun they have to sing to the end. They all form a circle – Whitespot was an instigator before now I am thinking it is Trunk and/or Toosha George. Whomever it is – all the dogs join in!

There is an article in the Vancouver Sun today about shelter/rescue dogs and Turtle Gardens is featured prominently!! Thank you Kim Pemberton for your insightful take on TG.

This the dog that inspired Kim – Alix!

What do you think the breed id is on Mo-reen? She is 11 weeks old, 4.6 pounds.

And beautiful photogenic Chica!

Finally a good picture of Gio!!

And Toosha George and Phoebe – a good pic of Phebes!

I very nearly burned my onions taking these pictures today – the singing got me out and the perfect shots kept me there until the tantalizing smell reminded me of what I was supposed to be doing! Suffice to say that my onions actually were perfectly caramelized and that the omelet and pork cutlets were superb!! Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do when you can do!

There is a new arrival who also received a new name within his first hour! Can you guess why he is called Waylon? He is a 6 month old who has had at least 3 homes already in his very short life.

The last picture will give you some indication – he is very very needy and suffers from a fairly severe separation anxiety. He is asleep right now near my chair – relaxed knowing I won’t leave him. He has the curly wiry hair of a poodle, short legs and body build of a cocker spaniel, long crimpy haired ears and a clear face of a cocker but the shape of a poodle. He is a funny looking little character! Next week he will visit my wonderful veterinarians for his check up, vaccinations and neuter. With a few weeks of TLC and the pack – he should be ready for a foster by this TG Bus Run. Life will be much better for little Waylon.

  1. When you mentioned the sing-along, I remembered the first time you had mentioned in your blog that Whitespot used to be the leader of these, I’m glad to see he has a successor. Great pics by the way. I love the face shots of Gio and Chica…they’re such sweet looking dogs with gentle faces.

  2. I am in love with Sir Gio. He is absolutely beautiful. When I read the blog yesterday. Mark was listening to me moaning out load, “Ohhh, he is so beautiful”. Next I heard his voice say,”No, you can not have another one!” From the sidelines I heard King agree. What a couple of meanies eh?
That’s a great article in the Vancouver Sun!! What a way to promote! Was that Cyndas doing? Did anyone else check out the link on that article’s sidebar. “BC Dog Rescue Groups.” Its a list of all the Rescue Groups on BC. It does my heart good to know someone like The Van. Sun is posting information on places that support the wellbeing of dogs in BC, instead of breeders in BC http://www.vancouversun.com/life/rescue+groups/5032191/story.html Thank you Kim Pemberton!

  3. It must be a family/bred thing, as Genoa who you said is related to Trunk, stands on both Tessa and Charlee’s back. Sometimes they are not too pleased. The singing from her is also a regular thing. It’s very cute, especially when she is simply playing around by herself.

  4. Kim Pemberton and the Vancouver Sun deserves all the credit for that
great article. She wrote seven great articles this past week, different
topics – “How to find the perfect dog”, “Pampering your pooch”, “The world of show dogs”, “The dangers of buying a dog on the Internet”, and “Pet oddities”. I am so glad she wrote about the unique problems in the north. The article about the efforts of CAAT coming up to the Burns Lake and Southside district was
excellent and so informative. With regards to roundups, shootings, culls, etc – every word is fact, no fluffy stuff, this is happening in many of the northern communities. Donna Lawson, the vet tech who founded CAAT stated. “The corridor between Prince George and Prince Rupert is underserved.”

Thanks Kim for writing such a compelling article!

  5. Yvette how often would these dogs have these choral practices?? Is it basically the same ballad each time approximately?? Loved the photo and the thought of it. and Sweety little Spot has disappeared off Petfinder , has she been adopted?

  6. Chica is gorgeous -I love that face! Hopefully we can find someone who wants to adopt two best friends :)

  7. They sing at least twice a day and it lasts about 3 to 5 minutes in length. The song is slightly different each time. The evening ones are more melancholy! There are some that are downright joyous!!
