Someone “paying it forward” to Turtle Gardens

There is a movie about doing random acts of kindness without recognition I believe it is called “Paying it forward”. Someone recently made a donation on canadahelps of $250. It was labelled “all the animals – general” and anonymous. Anonymous said “I received this money for returning a dog I found so I am Paying it Forward. ” How cool is that!

An update from homebase. Two adoptions locally!! Yes we do adopt out locally to really great homes where the dogs are part of the family.

First Sequoia which mans beautiful yellow girl and she really is a beautiful dark tan/strawberry blonde. she went for a sleepover and has woven into their hearts. The had this to say about her:

Hi All,

All is well in Smithers with our new friend. After spending sometime in our home, Sequoia is settling in just fine and has no signs of aggression or bad feelings toward people, although her bark can be quite scary but at the end of the day she is just a big puppy who is sometimes a bit nervous about meeting new people but this is getting better everyday.

Copper and Sequoia are slowly learning to be friends and even had a bit of play time yesterday!! :)

Sequoia is great with children (had my 6 and 4 year old nephew over and she was sad to see them go). But because of her size and excitement she does have to be monitored until she learns how to act around them. I have started training with her and am learning that she has a stubborn side, and after some reading it is said that St. Bernards are willful and stubborn.

Sequoia seems to have a fascination with trucks, when she sees one she get excited and wants to get right in there…….so in her previous life she had a positive experience with trucks.

So, after 6 days with Sequoia we are committed to keeping her as a part of our family. So thank you again and the check is in the mail! Good Luck with the Reno’s!!

Cheers,

Leanne H.

The second adoption was our very clam and gentle Ruby by Mr Beans family! Ruby was chosen to help fill the tremendous hole left by Mr Beans not to replace him but to help heal. They drove all the way to Prince George to visit Ruby at the Prison Program. It was a very good match so Ruby jumped into the car and went home. How cool is that!

Jessica said: we r home now and so far so good! She didn’t try to eat the cat :) I will send pics and an update soon to you to post on website …. Thanks again! She’s wonderful!! :) )

A Letter From Charlie

I thought I'd impress 'em

I thought I’d impress ‘em

Oh my gosh Charlie!! You can sit up pretty!! Nothing wrong with your back. You are not just a pretty face – smart too. Love from Mama Yvette and all our furry friends at homebase.
Sincerely, Yvette
PS Thank you so much for a much needed smile

Dear Mumma Yvette & Daddy Dave,

I wanted to write you a special note to let you know how well I’m doing in my foster home. Life is pretty rough (ha ha) for me, I go to work with my foster mum each morning and nap at home in the afternoon. We play in the dog park everyday and I eat lots of yummy treats from all the fantastic people my foster mumma knows. Life is pretty sweet, but then I think I deserve it! I’m strong as strong can be now.
This weekend foster mumma whispered to me that we were going on a little adventure, to a place called Bowen Island! An Island?! Did I hear right, doesn’t that mean we have to cross the water.. how are we going to do that? So needless to say I was a little curious. (I’ve attached pictures of my adventure to show you!)

Checking out the bay

So we packed up and jumped in the car and off we went to what foster mumma called a ‘ferry boat’ .. I think she might be making this up! Sure enough after a short trip we where at this funny place where all the cars were stopped in a line. I couldn’t figure it out, so I went to investigate. Seems they call this place a ‘ferry terminal’.

The next thing I knew we were back in the car and driving onto the thing mum called a ‘ferry’. I don’t think I was all to sure about it at the time but mum said it would be ok and that we should hop out and walk around, so I put my brave face and paws and went out to investigate.
Surprisingly I thought it was pretty cool,
I even met some pretty friendly kids that gave me lots of love.
Think I might like this thing called a ferry boat!
It was starting to get dark so I was a little worried I wouldn’t be able to see where we were heading but mum assured me I’d be ok. Off we drove and I think we may have crossed to island because it took so long I fell asleep.

I awoke to the sound of another dog barking, hopping out of the car I met my foster grandparents pup, Duffy. I have to say for being 15yrs old, he was pretty cool. He took me inside and showed me the ropes, even introduced me to a funny furry new friend that he called a cat. She seemed pretty cool, I think I might like to meet more of her ‘type’. Everyone was so friendly and kept giving me lots of cookies and talking in silly voices to me (I might kinda like it though, shhh don’t tell).

It's been busy, nap time!

It’s been busy, nap time!

The next morning I decided to put my brave and curious face on and roam the great outdoors with my new friend Duffy. We wagged our tales all the way down to the lake had a sniff and I then helped him remark all of his grass from the other dogs that roam the neighbourhood. I think he is set for a while!

Patio time with my older foster brother

Mum then decided that I’ve dragged to much dirt into the car, so it was time to give it a clean.
I thought it might be a good thing to supervise and have a nap in the sunshine.
I was right…
Well needless to say the rest of the weekend I was able to find a few new people to trick into some cuddle time with me, check out a couple new places to walk and before I knew it it was time to go home.
So Mumma Yvette and daddy Dave, I’m pretty pooped after my big weekend but still wanted to share with you and the other fur kids at the homestead.

Hugs, licks and tail wags.
Charlie

My Life Of POO!! Stan

There is poo here there is poo there OMG there is poo every where.. Hey Mom it seems like I got the *$#** end of the stick. Ok you have to amit that you read the tiltle and scand to see if I posted a pic….

Ok all joking a side you never know how much someone does in a day till there not here, and all I can say to to that is I know why mom always takes the time to pick up the poo when she first see’s it. BECAUSE IT”S MUCH EASIER TO PICK UP BEFORE IT”S SMEAR AND STEPPED IN AND TRACKED ALLLLLLL OVER!!!!!!!!! I also know know just how much of the enemy poo really is, and when it looks funny I pick it up right now no matter how much POOOFETION it really is and just nuke the S*&$& right out it with the bleach jug, it brings tears to my eyes sometime but I do it with a smile. and know why you smile when you do it.

I also learned just how important the poo job is here at T.G home base, none feels they are qualified enough to do it and always leave it for me now that your not here… I have also have learned to love to pick up nice well formed turds and they make me smile too like you because that means they are safe and healthy for one more day, and some days. One day is all they got left when they get here. I also have learned to walk the yard morning noon and night to clean and be sure everyone is safe, Some day Mom like you I maybe able to walk around the yard and reconice most by there poo and what that poo means. Because the the art of reading poo keeps everyone safe, and the fear gives you the energies to pick it up..

I have learned to love a clean yard at night just so I will know every one is safe, things have to change and they are slowly one day at time because the changes that need to be made are gargantuan and you have spent a life time fighting the war on poo we are making ground and winning I was just smiling this moring with a tear in my eye walking around my dirty yard full of well made grade A T.G poo
