Thank you so much for the letter regarding Silas!  My girls were very happy after reading the letter and have shared it with all of their friends.  I hope that this letter will plant an idea or two about different ways that kids can make a difference!

Hayley and Dakota would love a picture of Silas!

Alfred was one of "Lassie’s" pups! She was found on the side of the road with a cracked pelvis. Below her in a culvert were 7 pups - this is one of them. Thank you so very much!

Porter here! I wanted to thank Dave and Yvette for being such great parents for so long. It took my parents a long time to find me and I wouldn’t have gotten that chance anywhere else. I want to help other dogs have that chance! I’ll see you Thursday night, and try to think of a good name for the little sweetie.  Mom always says she should change my name to Pansy so people won’t be scared of me (but then she made me that stupid sweater).  But this girl has too much grit to be a Pansy or Petunia.  How about Harmony or Serene (maybe the things she’s looking for?… Full Plate doesn’t make a really good name.. haha)Luv always, Porter  - Smithers, BC

Thank you, thank you, thank you for doing what you do.  I check your website regularly, I find it extremely uplifting.  I love your quote about being just one person, doing what you can do.  If we all helped a little, just what we are capable of …..

That poor momma from Hazelton - how can a community stand by and do nothing?  A sack of cheap dog food is only about $20 - and how much effort is it to put down a bucket of water everyday?  Yes, I know that that is not optimum nutrition for a momma and pups - but better than starving!  Congratulations to the man who called you.

I still don’t have my yard fenced to adopt another dog, but am working on it!  Got sidetracked with another little starving furperson - a little mare.  That makes three rescued horses in my yard!  This is not her forever home, just a place to get her health and nutrition up and then we’ll find her a home.  The two old geldings are home forever - thanks to Nicola from the PG Equine Rescue.  One of them was my horse from many years ago - I had to sell him - found him again after 13 years last summer - and now he’s home to stay.

Anyway, will put a check in the mail tomorrow for the Gardens.  Use it in whatever way is needed most.

Thank you again,

Linda G

I can’t believe someone else would not help! Argh the poor things - and all
mine so spoiled and fed!
In the mail to you - name one of them Orion for me (The little one most like mom is Orion!)
Cheers

Turtle Gardens recently took in a family of Karelian Bear Dog mixes (they are not true Karelians but it best describes their size and look).  It is made up of a mother and her three daughters.  We have been searching for a sponsor for their spays and vet care.  Along with the sponsorship the donor gets to name them….so I am asking you to choose names for your benefactors.

Names chosen: Cashmere, Brocade, Chenille and Paisley

Turtle Gardens has VIP Thank You’s

Filed under: THANK YOU PAGE — yvette @ 3:55 pm

Christmas giving lends a lot of thanks you’s to the donors. I am very slow at sending thanks you’s in the mail. It is a chore to me although I appreciate the gift so very much. This blog lets me thank people fast!!
And thank people that give anonymously. So let us start with the tires. Wendy, Charlie and Little Sally (adopted from TG) have donated two good brand new snow tires for the back of the van installed on the next TG Bus Run from Tom the Tire Man in Surrey. Sharon has gotten a real deal for 4 new tires from the Burns Lake Kal Tire - which we will have two new tires  installed on the front before the TG Bus run  - donations that have come into canadahelps this past few days will more than cover them.

David my #2 son sent an email to his co-workers at Sophos and the response has been FANTASTIC!! as of this morning $846 Isn’t that just so cool! One my most important Wishes has come true - safe roads for the TG BUS!

Today is Sharon Hann’s BIRTHDAY!! Happy 29th from all of us at Turtle Gardens. She and Simon and Kip (from TG) and Chloe the princess pug are hosting an OPEN HOUSE today to celebrate. No gifts for Sharon instead she has asked for donations to Turtle gardens - how very nice is that??

Dave arrived home yesterday from PG with the two pound  pups from Burns Lake - a white/black pitbull and a spayed black lab. He also came home bearing gifts from our veterinary clinic’s staff. Thank you Buck and Dorothy Stratton (they have 2 TG dogs) for giving our crew 4 bags of premium dogs food. Thank you Angie and Bill - 5 gift certificates from KFC - you remember how much I enjoyed your visits and the chicken!! Thankyou to the staff for the 3 - $100 gift certificates for groceries for the people of Turtle Gardens!! And the $50 bill for gas for the next TG Bus Run!! And another 6 bags of premium dog food. Thank you so very much  - we and the dogs appreciate it so very very much.

And then today Lorna arrived bearing more gifts for Turtle Gardens from Smithers! There was food hampers (for Dave and I) from Bruce and Margaret and Lorna as well as 6 bags of dog food. Lorna and Joanne Maxwell donated an entire pallet of dog food!! Jan MacKay and her daughter Heather sent TG a cheque for $100 and a Merry Christmas. Tonya sent a large assortment of  greenies/gravy/chews and canned food to my TG crew. They will love it all! Ms Heatherington from the Town office sent a big bag of Nutro and  more treats to my homeless dogs who will enjoy all th etreats over th eholidays.

And a big thank you to all my supporter throuhgout the year. New to You who send us blankets/towels/bedding for all the crates/beds/doggie couches. The Bulkley Valley Hospital who send sheets/towels/baby milk/baby water that is slightly outdated but still very good for weaker puppies. The Smithers Feed Store who has set up a food drop off depot for Turtle Gardens. The Peak Radio for advertising Turtle Gardens and our blog - you are awesome!! And the anonymous donors of dog food all year long! Thank you.

And an especially big Thank you to Wayne Couture and Jean Davis for your large cash donation each year. They have also adopted 3 Turtle Gardens dogs over the years! And the Southside Women’s Institute who had a raffle and donated half of the proceeds to our Low Cost Spay Neuter Fund - $481. And the BC Hydro - Hydrecs Fund who donated $1000 to our Low Cost Spay Neuter Fund. THANK YOU.

And our biggest supporters without who we COULD NOT operate Turtle Gardens as successfully/efficiently or as well - our veterinarians - Lois Martin and Caroline Kye of Burns Lake and Brian Rieve and Callie Lancaster of Bulkley Valley.

And to all the individuals and families who have adopted a wonderful companion from Turtle Gardens over the past 20 years we THANK YOU for giving these dogs a second chance at life. Please keep the pictures and emails coming - YOU make my day and give the oomph to keep going. Adoptions are the rhyme and reason of Turtle Gardens.

And the very biggest THANK YOU is to my two sons who created this site so we could be the best that we can be!!  www.redneckmedia.net/
